The Faithful Ship

We first met by the bank of that great river upon which divers ships travel.

Two complete strangers, we stood amidst a multitude of several other strangers. Inasmuch as we all blended in as unfamiliar faces, you somehow managed to stand out in a beautifully awkward way. So lovely among the rest and your glow could hardly escape the glance of many.

As dark and majestic as Nerfetiti herself, you moved like a goddess. With hair as natural like none other, you literally radiated a unique essence of nature's finest beauty.

Your very personality was the force that gave birth to this little great love story of ours being told today.

For one moment, I said to myself, "this lady is way out of my league"... Yet for another moment, I felt this great connection, one which I readily sloughed off...

Then came suddenly that big ship they call 'friend-ship', aboard which are countless passengers. We jumped on board together and that's where we've been ever since...

It was a long shot, a very long one actually, but very much worth trying.

The journey has been an interesting one so far with its own doses of bitter and sweet lang synes.

Amidst the billows and against the waves we sailed. Through day and night, cloud and shine, we moved and kept moving until here we stand.

From the dread of a thousand typhoons of pranks, we have come out stronger like none other. Hence have we gotten so far, regardless the hunger which no amount of yam eating could offset. Neither the miraculous pregnancies which yielded no babies in the end nor the legs which were broken but yet remained intact could throw us overboard this ship.

Hitherto on this ship, have we managed to discover the genuine versions of love, commitment, care and above all, loyalty.

Being on this ship with you so far has been the source of few of my happy moments and almost all of my sad moments.😂🤣

Perchance, the beginning of our journey together was blurry and the destination uncertain. But now, we know where we are going, even if we don't know koraa, heaven knows😂... We are headed for that island they call 'Seventy'...

"Now I'm tired !, We are done! It's over! I want to jump overboard !... I can't do again ! ..."  these are almost like everyday words. Yet we still are here, together, right where we are meant to be until 70.

One thing I know for certain and ever willing to bet your life on (not mine though) is that nothing can separate us from this ship.

Neither time nor distance, anger nor pride, wantonness nor abundance, wounds nor scars can sever this pact of a ship.

Remember these words of mine "I have no regrets embarking on this journey with you and I am probably the luckiest guy on the planet" (oooiii... lies won't kill me😂)

For through it all, this ship of ours remains faithful still.
